“Doomsday Preppers” television stars Rick Austin and Survivor Jane recently helped out the prepper community in North Carolina.
According to BlueRidgeNow.com:
Cashing in on the “if you fail to plan, you plan to fail” mentality, television star “preppers” Rick Austin and Survivor Jane welcomed a registered 600 attendees to the camp on opening day Friday at Orchard Lake Campground.
Unlike other vendor-driven expos, this was a one-stop shop of information that offered hands-on learning over three days. It was the first of its kind for Austin and Jane, stars of the National Geographic Channel’s “Doomsday Preppers” season 4 series.
“Unfortunately a lot of those events are vendor-driven so they’re about selling stuff to people,” Austin told BlueRidgeNow.com. “And the vast majority of people that come to a camp like this or come to any sort of preparedness event are there because they’re trying to get information. …
“We wanted to change the focus, especially since we were speakers on education and that’s what this thing is all about,” he added. “It’s about trying to teach people stuff and trying to give them the most information they can get. Most people just don’t know where to start.”
