The world of prepping is littered with acronyms. One such acronym you’ll undoubtedly encounter if you become interested in emergency preparedness is EDC, which stands for Everyday Carry. EDC items are what you carry on your person every time you leave the house. Simply put, these are the items you’re going to want to have with you if you’re separated from your bug-out bag and other survival gear.
If you’re new to prepping, figuring out which EDC items to carry with you isn’t as easy as it sounds. To help ease the process, renowned survivalism and emergency preparedness expert Jim Cobb has put together a basic overview of seven essential EDC items, ranging from cash and credit cards to a flashlight — such as the Streamlight Stylus Pro — and a firearm, which Cobb recommends you carry for self defense if you are legally able to do so.
