Dave Canterbury is an expert outdoorsman.

As a professional survivalist, Canterbury is the co-owner of the Pathfinder School and of Self Reliance Illustrated Magazine.

Panteao Productions recently had Canterbury demonstrate the finer points of making a feather stick.

Feather sticks are used to create a dry surface area on damp wood, making it easier to create a flame when needed.

“The importance of a feather stick is increasing the surface area of one branch so it catches flame easier,” Canterbury said.
