When it’s hot and muggy this summer and you’re near an area with water or forests, having bug spray to shield against those pesky bugs is essential. But, what if you’re a parent who doesn’t like rubbing all of that chemical all over your child? Well, if you didn’t know, there are safe and natural bug repellants out there for kids, according to WebMD.

The best way to stay safe from bug-borne infections is to protect yourself. WebMD Feature collaborated with Healthy Child Healthy World to compiled some au naturel bug repellants alternatives.

Some natural products without potentially toxic chemicals to consider are soy-based products and oil of lemon eucalyptus. Other products that have been tested, but aren’t proven to be super effective are citronella, peppermint oil, and other plant-based oils. It’s always best to try things out to see if they work for you.
